I had graphics driver issues and one of the things I did to try to fix it was change the graphics driver to Geforce 6800.

It didn't work. It also changed my login screen and made an xconsole (not the exact name... I think) window pop up during start up. It also made it so when I went to "log out" to shut down my computer the only option was "End user session". The graphics driver issue has since been ironed out, but the changes in the logging in/out are still there.

I can still shut down by ending the user session, then hitting the power button at the login screen. I would like to be able to shut down and restart from the desktop.

I'm on SuSE 9.3 pro BTW.

i think your kdm got messed up... try reinstalling kdebase-kdm and kdebase-kdm-config

that might be a mandriva fix though..
