Hej I'm a Linux newb. I just installed Mandrake 10, everything went well. No I need to install wine....
...I have downloaded the newest wine and followed the instructions from "wine HG".
While installing i get the following message:

checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no

configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

Can you help me???

dear,
open /etc/profile
and add following line just above export

PATH = /usr/bin
and at the last of export PATH
eg:

export .......... ......... ........... ........... ......... ............ .......... PATH

What is the solution???

You tell linux that the c compiler is in /usr/bin/ (Isn't this true??)
But what about the

export .......... ......... ........... ........... ......... ............ .......... PATH

part, what do you mean with this
:confused:

Can you give me a better exemple??

Thanx for helping anyway, I'll try it right after I'm back from work..

With regards Guido

Listen
In file
/etc/profile

you write
PATH = /usr/bin
And add this PATH variable in export .

export is written in /etc/profile like following

export USER LOGNAME MAIL HOSTNAME HISTSIZE INPUTRC

add PATH last to this line

this was my mean dear.

Tryout this.

Take care

You may not have installed the compiler. From a console as root, type in: 'urpmi gcc'.
