problems installing Mozilla Thunderbird using Suse 8.3 : 'configure not working'
Hiya.
I'm sorry if this is a really silly question, I've tried RTFMing (Specifically I'm trying to follow the instructions on tuxfiles I can't post the link because I haven't got enough posts) I'm trying to install Mozilla Thunderbird. The file is a thunderbird-1.0.tar.gz, and I've managed to un zip and un tar it using the command tar xvzf pkg.tar.gz this seemed to work and gave me the new directory 'thunderbird'. I've had a look in thunderbird and there's no text files telling me how to install, so I carried on following the instructions. I changed into the thunderbird directory by typing CD thunderbird, which also worked, and attempted to configure the file by typing ' ./configure' and got 'no such file or directory' Can any one point out the error I'm making as a stupid newbie? instead of ./configure , cd into the thunderbird folder and try ./thunderbird

Thank you, that worked.
The next time I download a program how do I find out whether to install it by doing configure make install, or by ./programmename. Just so I don't have to ask you next time! Steve |
