Unhappy problems accessing samba shares

Hi all!

this is my first post and I hope someone can help, i'm going nuts here... Ok I've got a three pc home network.
Two running mandrakelinux 10.1 and one running XP. One of the nix boxes is set up as a file server using samba giving rwx permissions on all drives (the shares on the network are all root drives on the file server). When accessing the shared drives from the XP box all works as expected, I can create directories, delete files etc. but when accessing the shares from the other nix box (the shares are mounted under /mnt/sharename) the permissions show up as owner:rwx group:rx other:rx on the above folders which means that I cannot create/delete unless i am logged in as root. when I try to change the permissions of the /mnt/sharename directory it gives me the old "you don't have privileges to change this file" story even though I am logged in as root and the owner of the directory.. In my view samba is mounting the share with certain permissions then launching a proccess to prevent modification. What I need to know is how do I configure the shares to be loaded on the client with full a+rwx access so that I can create/delete files on the file server no matter who I am logged in as.
Please, any help would be appreciated...
regards

Try adding the mount option "umask=000" to the options field of the appropriate /etc/fstab entry.

Question

Thanx, that did it but, (theres always a 'but') all the files on the server are showing up as user:nobody group:nobody with write access only granted to that group. So although I can now write/delete to the root directory I cant delete files (even as root) so when i add any files on the xp box to the shared drive I have to shh to the server change ownership before I am able to touch it in linux. Any suggestions?
