Change the device section of your Mice input device from IBM to /dev/mouse (X cannot find any mouse). Maybe also change the protocol from auto to "PS/2"

Did you try '/dev/psaux'? The screen goes blank becasue it is about to start, then stops when it can't find the mouse.

/dev/mouse is actually a symlink, here's where it points:

Code:
[gianni@Thetargos gianni]$ ls -l /dev/mouse
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 10 ene 21  2003 /dev/mouse -> input/mice
You can either state as the input device /dev/input/mice or create the symlink and point just /dev/mouse. Before trying, please make sure you've got the devices.

No, at least not evident in the X log.
