Problem with recognizing CDs strategy with cdrdao - probably a bug
note that this is indeed a bug report text that I intended to submit to cdrdao's bug report section. but I could not find any relevant page for that purpose! I searched with google and visited/G-searched its sourceforge site, but could not find a place for reporting bugs.
=======================
It seems that there is a mistake in cdrdao informational output when using 'disk-info' command.
I get this part for some CDs: 'Long Strategy Type, e.g. Cyanine'
and this part for some other CDs: 'Short Strategy Type, e.g. Phthalocyanine'
I studied for 'Cyanine' and 'Phthalocyanine' recently.
From Wikipedia article about Cyanine:
They are used in CD-R and DVD-R media. The ones used are mostly green or light blue in color, and are chemically unstable. This makes cyanine discs unsuitable for archival CD and DVD use, as they can fade and become unreadable in a few years.
Also I studied its phthalocyanine article ; but it has not mentioned anything about CDs.
I think something is wrong here because article and cdrdao info dont match.
article about cyanine says it is unstable and 'unsuitable for archival CD and DVD use, as they can fade and become unreadable in a few years', but cdrdao says 'Long Strategy Type, e.g. Cyanine'!
I am confused.
if you answer my question/bug report, can you tell me too how cdrdao acquires such information?
is all pieces of this information recorded on the CD at the time manufacturing CD-Rs? what other information may be recorded too? do these exist in sector 0 of CDs?
also may this information forged easily? unfortunately in my country forgery is rampant at least currently almost in all areas.
===============
sorry for bad english.
