Does anyone know why nam-1.12 doesn't work in fedora14? The rest of ns-2.30 goes perfectly

Did you patch tk8.4.13 before running ./install ?

If not, please do : cd ns-allinone-2.30/nam* && make clean && make

If no luck with that : It doesn't mean a thing, any nam can be used :
nam is a separate application.

Yes, I did the patch and I did the make. I'll try to use the packet you posted. Thank you very much. I hope I won't have more problems with this

When you use the patch last event por tk.h, what it actually do is change the lines marked?
I don't know linux, I'm learning, and I would like to know the answer

The "visual method" of understanding is probably the most easy :
Have a look at tk.h from line 635 to line 650, to see what's changed.
( A "tk.h original" and a "tk.h patched")

You can also create a patch yourself by comparing the two files with: diff -Naur old new

Example : diff -Naur tk.h-org tk.h-patched > my-tk.patch

( I didn't get an OK nam in the Fedora 14 nam-1.12 either.)

And I don't intend to use nam-1.12 ever.
One 'nam' e.g. "nam-1.14" in /usr/local/bin/ will work with all
versions of ns-2.xx. And I have plenty of binary 'nam', that work.
The one I uploaded to Google Docs has a time stamp : 30 Aug 2009.

On another OS it may be the nam-1.13 (from ns-allinone-2.31),
that isn't working. Errors : Always like you show in post # 5.
Lots of examples on the net. (Google .. code omitted because of length ..)
All other (1.10 1.11 1.12 1.14 OK, nam-1.13 from ns-allinone-2.33 OK.
Small things can do a difference : Another tcl / tk /otcl / tclcl,
a slightly different compiler, one updated, the other not.

But actually nam etc. has been fixed : ns-allinone-2.35-RC7.tar.gz
