I don't know what you have or have not tried. You should mention in your post the things you have already tried or done. If your distro is rpm based then this page might help: http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/se...submit=Search+...

I have k3b 0.12.17 on my Fedora Core 6 box. I didn't realize it was such an old version.

you are right about that my friend but searching google is one of the first that i have learned to do especially for linux answer so thats why i took it for granted. anyhow unfortunately its not rpm based. its more like "filename.pkg.tar.gz"
Try using the command line to write a DVD or CD. If that does not work, try it with root. If it still does not work upgrade the utilities. K3B is just a front-end so upgrading it may not fix the problem.
Gentoo developers have 1.0.1 of K3B as masked. I am using K3B version 0.12.14. I should upgrade soon even though it is very easy to do with emerge.
I suggest looking at Gentoo's package database at either packages.gentoo.org or gentoo-portage.com to know what version is stable and what is not. The programs that have ~ or hard masked are unstable.

i dont want to write dvd/cd on command line i want to be on graphical enviroment. i have make a system update so everything that should be updated they are.

i have already k3b 1.0.1 ( and also there is a k3b 1.0.2 - i just havent put it on cause it stuck the system when it begins - so i ll wait a little bit a better version for that)

ty i look at it and show which version are arent stable. (specifically i show that only 0.12.17 is serious stable at x86)
PS: is your version 0.12.14 in the goes like k3b-0.12.14.pkg.tar.gz
if yes can you place it here so i can download it and try it ?

You have come here for help right? You should not be so closed minded to suggestions. You need to try different things in order to isolate what the problem may be. It could be something as simple as the gui frontend playing up. If you manage to write a cd/dvd via commandline, you can then focus your attentions on the gui or perhaps the config files.
If you have Gnome libs installed, you could try gnomebaker. The issue you are experiencing may be related to my own experiences with FreeBSD. K3B appears to depend on SCSI optical drives so my IDE and SATA drives needed to emulate those in order to work. This usually isn't a problem with Linux but the emulation failed completely on FreeBSD. I ended up with lots of error messages indicating "sense failure" and a totally useless K3B. Gnomebaker does not appear to require any emulation so it may work better.
Another thing you can do is launch K3B as root, which should considerably increase stability.
And of course, hardware factors may play their role as well. Maybe the drive doesn't like the brand of the disks you are feeding it? This is a known issue with some optical drives. Maybe you need a different cable? I recently heard of someone who was unable to burn anything at all until he got a more recent IDE cable.

the thing is that i have already try to burn on a live CD version (specifically knoppix live CD) which had the k3b 0.12.17 and it burn it normally without any problem.
