problem with gnome-panel / orbit permissions

Hello,

when I was installing Mandriva2006 on my new computer my gnome-panel disappered after having working for a while (on my previous computer the same distro's gnome stuff had worked ok). When it tried executing gnome-panel in xterm, I got the following message:

** (gnome-panel:5614): warning **: Wrong permissions for /home/jjonas/tmp/orbit-jjonas-2828a8e8

Bonobo-Activation-Message: Permission denied locking 'home/jjonas/tmp/orbit-jjonas/bonobo-activation-register.lock'

the permissions for my orbit-jjonas* directiories are:

drwx------ 2 jjonas jjonas 4096 Jun 3 12:31 orbit-jjonas/
drwxrwxr-x 2 jjonas jjonas 4096 Jan 1 1970 orbit-jjonas-2828a8e8/

(the date 1970 seems rather odd!)

Googling for answers I found this link which seems to deal with the issue:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/orbit.../msg00019.html

, but I don't understand so much of it. What is the problem, and what can I do about it?

Hello again,

I solved the problem like Alexander the Gordian knot, i.e. I deleted everything in my ~/tmp, plus the .gnome, .gconf, etc. folders in my ~/.. (they were recreated with default setting when i started gnome again)..
