Problem with connection

Hi,
the Red-hat linux machine (with version 5.11) is not connecting well to outside, as I am not able to ping www.google.com and have got

"host not found"

what to check?

It is actually one VM running in Oracle Vbox and the host is fine to the connection to outside. what to adjust, within the VM?

If you literally
Code:
ping www.google.com
ie by name, then the first thing it does is a DNS lookup to find an IP Address, which it sounds like it can't.
What does the /etc/resolv.conf look like?
How about trying
Code:
nslookup www.google.com
to check?

Try using the outside host to find the ip, then try the IP from within the VM?

How is the VM network adapter configured? Assuming everything is working the default is NAT which should work for browsing the internet?

Can you ping an IP address of google.com? If yes, your problem is the DNS setup; start by checking /etc/resolv.conf.

If not, your network setup is wrong. There are many ways it can go wrong, for example the routing table might be misconfigured, or the VM host might not forward packets, or the bridge on the VM host is misconfigured, or it's the firewall on the VM host.

Can you ping anything from the VM?

What Virtualbox network type have you chosen for this VM? For example, if it's an isolated network, you won't get out.
