Problem with autogen syntax error near unexpected token 1.9.6 AM_PATH_CPPUNIT(1.9.6)

Used svn co to fetch latest version of rtorrent. Ran svn up in the trunk directory. Now to compile libtorrent...

Code:

user@deb:~/rtorrent-svn/trunk/libtorrent$ ./autogen.sh
aclocal...
/usr/share/aclocal/libmcrypt.m4:17: warning: underquoted definition of AM_PATH_LIBMCRYPT
/usr/share/aclocal/libmcrypt.m4:17:  run info '(automake)Extending aclocal'
/usr/share/aclocal/libmcrypt.m4:17:  or see http://sources.redhat.com/automake/automake.html#Extending-aclocal
configure.ac:20: warning: macro `AM_PATH_CPPUNIT' not found in library
autoheader...
libtoolize... using libtoolize
automake...
autoconf...
ready to configure
user@deb:~/rtorrent-svn/trunk/libtorrent$ ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p
checking for gawk... no
checking for mawk... mawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... no
./configure: line 2465: syntax error near unexpected token `1.9.6'
./configure: line 2465: `AM_PATH_CPPUNIT(1.9.6)'
user@deb:~/rtorrent-svn/trunk/libtorrent$ make
bash: make: command not found

Similar with compiling rtorrent...

Code:

Are you using Debian? I thought this was the current status for Debian:

Debian testing/unstable

I am not sure what that means. I am using Debian Lenny, which is the Stable release.

Is rtorrent unstable?

Right, I was speaking in the context of rtorrent. My understanding of the status of rtorrent for Debian, is that it is unstable.

Oh, I didn't think of that.

Hi,
hope this reply still relevant..

just install 'libcppunit-dev' and the warning of AM_PATH_CPPUNIT will disappear.
