Problem upgrading to kernel 2.4.7
Hi,
I've compiled the new kernel using gcc 3.0 (bad idea I know, but I presume if it compiles ok it should work ok?) When I reboot using the new kernel, I get the error messages: Error: unable to open initial console. No init found, try passing init= option to kernel. I know that this is usually the result of passing the wrong partition to the kernel loader (loadlin in my case) but since I already had the default kernel booting ok, I don't see how this could be the problem. Passing init=/sbin/init and init=/bin/bash to loadlin didn't help either. I'm using Slackware 8 and booting from a DOS partition. I'd be really grateful for any help. Alex |
Oops...kernel 2.4.9 actually
