Problem starting mozilla
After running mozilla 1.4 as su to install a smooth wheel add on, I can no longer run mozilla under my user account. Mozilla, when trying to run as a user, will act like its starting up for 30 seconds and then just disappears from the taskbar. Mozilla can however be run as su. I have experienced this problem before and just reinstalled mozilla to fix it, but there must be a simpler solution. Thanks.

im having the same exact problem in redhat 8 with mozilla 1.3.1..
if i run the run-mozilla.sh script it opens however.. so 1.4 fixes it? Still awaiting a response in another thread... |
Uninstalling and reinstalling will work, but there must be an easier way to do it. Many Mozilla/Firebird enhancements require write access to /usr, and therefore they must be run under su in order for them to install correctly. The only way around this that i can think of, is to re-install mozilla to a directory that you have write access to.

You don't need to reinstall mozilla; but you do need to allow mozilla to reinitialize the default config files in your /home directory, then copy your previous bookmarks.html file to your new ~/.mozillla/default/*.slt directory. See these threads:

Thanks, I didn't see these threads before. Mozilla is working normally again. :)
