Problem starting ldap

I'm having a bit of a problem starting LDAP, I get this error in /var/log/messages

Code:
slapd[3532]: sql_select option missing
slapd[3532]: auxpropfunc error no mechanism
I have searched around the net and found that the solution is to change the ownership of the files /etc/openldap.ldap.conf and /etc/openldap/sldap.conf to root. I have tried this but I'm still getting the same error message. I have also tried changing the ownership of all other files related to ldap like /var/lib/ldap* but I still get the same thing. I'm running FC4.

Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?

Paddy
