Problem printing from fedora 19 clients (CUPS1.6.3) to CentOS6.4 server (CUPS1.4.2)
I am fairly new to Linux (about 18 months, also my first post here) and have always been able to solve my problems by searching threads etc. This time I seems to be stuck though.
I am running a home network with CentOS6.4 server and Fedora 19 clients. The CentOS server have CUPS 1.4.2 installed and I can print directly from the server to my Brother HL2140 (driver: Brother HL-2140 foomatic/HL1250), connected by USB, without a problem. The printer is shared that the clients can print on it.
The fedora 19 clients have cups 1.6.3 installed but when printing to this printer, prints jobs are accepted, passed to the server but not printed. The access_log on the server indicates that the document has been printed successfully, but nothing comes out. No errors recorded in error_log as well. Driver on fedora 19 machines is also Foomatic/HL1250. Print jobs passed from WINXP machines to this printer via the CentOS server prints fine without problems. My searches indicate possible compatibility issue between the two cups versions, but no direction on how to fix it. I believe the problem lies with CUPS 1.6.3.
Anyone with similar experience (and patience) that can provide some advice or guidance??
