Problem launching Java applet

I'm running Linux Mint 6 (Ubuntu 8.10) with all of the Java 6 updates installed. I'm trying to run JDownloader from www.jdownloader.org a Java program. When I launch the JDownload.jar file with either a right click "Run with 'Sun Java 6 Runtime' " or "java -jar" in the terminal, it starts up, says it needs to download some updates then does it all over again without launching the final program. Anyone have a solution for this? Thanks.
