Problem installing KDE

I try to install KDE 3.1 from the sources, I installed, arts and kdelibs without problems, but when I try to compile kdebase, the script ./configure returns me the next error message:

checking if UIC has KDE plugins available... configure: error: not found - you need to install kdelibs first.

I'm sure that I have kdelibs installed, what happened??? I have gcc 3.2 Please help me

You need to tell configure where kdelibs is installed.
Do "./configure --help" to see the options, the one you want is "--prefix=".
