go to www.rpmfind.net and see if you can get one that is already compiled...unless you already tried that

Unfortunately I already tried that ..

[root@localhost hex]# rpm -ivh '/home/hex/gaim-0.59.8-2mdk.i586.rpm'
error: failed dependencies:
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3) is needed by gaim-0.59.8-2mdk

I posted something on linux-general about this glibc problem I'm having... I have glibc 2.5 and gaim seems to want 2.3 .. I'm at my wits end

Thanks though LoungeLizard

get the newer version of gaim... once again... it really will already be on your distro cd's. everything on those cd's is guarenteed to work with everything else on there in theory.

Actually that was the latest version of gaim.. I should be upgrading to mandrake 9.1 in the near future so hopefully all these issues will be resolved! Is there a way for me to have both glibc versions on my system and to have gaim use the older one? I mean is there a way I can have them both installed and "point" gaim to the one it wants without ruining everything? I'm quite wary of messing with glibc
