Problem installing driver

I got the following error while installing a driver:

Installation failed:
file /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2 from install of fglrx-4.3.0-3.12.0 conflicts with file from package libxfree86-4.3-30mdk

Any idea on how to fix this so I can install the driver? Any help would really be appreciated!

If fglrx is an rpm package you're trying to install, adding a --replacefiles to the rpm command should do the trick. See man rpm.

I tried to install this and got the following message:

rpm fglrx-4.3.0-3.12.0.i386.rpm --replacefiles
rpm: only installation, upgrading, rmsource and rmspec may be forced

like this:
rpm -i --replacefiles fglrx-4.3.0-3.12.0.i386.rpm

Please see man rpm.

Note: It's essential as a linux user that you read the manpages so you understand the syntax of the commands you use. If you don't you can get your system in a mess really quick!!
