problem installing blender


I am running mandriva 2005 and want to install blender the latests one which i have downloaded from the website this is the error message I get when run the ./blender in the terminal

[root@localhost blender-2.37]# ./blender
Using Python version 2.3
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
No installed Python found.
Only built-in modules are available. Some scripts may not run.
Continuing happily.
[sis_alloc.c:154]: Failure to allocate Z buffer.
[root@localhost blender-2.37]#

Python is installed!! anyone know how i can get around this problem?? pls explain in detail as what i need to do an what to ajust
