Problem in recovering deleted files (error : bad magic number)
I have accidentally rm -rf ed some directory (in FAT32 partition) which I badely need. And then I did one more blunder I switched to windows to use some recovery utility of windows (I trusted them). It didn't showed up my files. Now when I am trying to recover the files through debugfs it is giving following error
/dev/hda8: Bad magic number in super-block while opening filesystem
lsdel: Filesystem not open
Is there still some hope left. I need my files badly. Please help me.
I don't know on which forum this mail will fit so I am resending same mail once again on this forum (after finding no replies from general forum)
debugfs is alredy installed on my comp I have ceated symbolic link /sbin/fsck.vfat -> /sbin/dosfsck. I guess this is what I had to do only. Ran fsck , now it was running . Got following output
Sorry to say I actually forgot the tool name. Since yesterday I had been trying other options and thats why.... but seemingly people have good experience with that tool I took it from some of my acquaintance.
I am almost loosing my hope, so right now I am rather trying to learn the recovery than actually hoping to get my actual data.
Yeah fine I will knock you sometime on messenger, right now I have some work. I have unmounted that partition, so it will maintain its status (in the hope that I may get some solution within few days).
