problem editing html's with VI

Allowa,

does anybody know how to disable VI from jumping over the html tags when put in write mode?
it happens that when i try to edit something placed in a tag ,that the cursor (to my annoyance) automatically passes over it .

so how to fix that?

and thanks.

I guess you'll have to provide some detail. What distribution, which vi, etc.

My vi doesn't do anything like that on any of the machines I use it on.

I agree that vi/vim doesn't normally do that, possibly you've got (invisible) ctrl chars in there.
How/where did you get the html file?
There are cmds in vim to show ctrl chars: see http://www.nabble.com/highlighting-%...-t3429618.html
