problem booting

When I installed nvidia drivers to my graphic card i did some things i shoudn't have done and now when X is starting to the login screen it appears a nvidia logoscreen who won't dissapear.

I know whats wrong and all I need to do is to replace a file..

Can I somehow prevent X to start ??

like hold a button when it starts or something..?

I'm using Red Hat 9.0

try boot in text mode using a bootdisk (have 1, huh?), or your install cd. log as root and do edit whatever you want. edit /etc/inittab so you dont have to pass the graphical login screen, or whatever you like
