probems installing and/or running mysql

I am trying to run MySQL on my Suse system. I have used Yast to install it, but I don't know which directory to look in to verify it has been installed. (there are no files in /var/lib/mysql.) Since I couldn't verify it was installed, I tried using RPM with MySQL.com site rpm files. When I did that it gave me the error: error: MySQL-client-community-5.0.41-0.sles10.i586.rpm.part: V3 DSA signature: BAD, key ID 5072e1f5 error: MySQL-client-community-5.0.41-0.sles10.i586.rpm.part cannot be installed error: MySQL-server-community-5.0.41-0.sles10.i586.rpm.part: V3 DSA signature: BAD, key ID 5072e1f5 error: MySQL-server-community-5.0.41-0.sles10.i586.rpm.part cannot be installed Not knowing if it was installed, I tried running MySQL and I got the error message: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) I would appreciate any comments on this.

Well first of all it sounds like it was installed by the error message you stated above.

The next thing I would try would be running "mysql_install_db".
Next yo have to start the the server if not started already. This can be done through a startup script or you can try running "mysqld_safe &".
From that moment on yu shouyld be able to go though any online setup mysql setup and get your self running.
