Privoxy & tor with ubuntu stopped working

Ubuntu 8.10

Latest upgrade of Privoxy

Hi

I ran the automatic update for privoxy today and since this has been completed, i get the error that firefox/privoxy directory does not allow for writting or does not exist.

Strange as it's been working perfectly before this update. I have tried re-installing privoxy, changing the config file etc. but still to no avail.

Perhaps there is another way of using tor? any ideas?

How about posting some error messages or more information so we have something to work with.

You can try to remove them with the purge option, and reinstall the older version

Ok, privoxy now seems to be working. latest headache now is foxyproxy!

the error message is:

file://usr/lib/firefox-3.0.5/foxyproxy.xml ensure path exists & firefox has write access.

all this coz I updated privoxy & foxyproxy. All I want to do is start running tor again.

regards

Thanks all who have been looking at this problem with privoxy and tor. I uninstalled the whole lot, privoxy and tor and re-installed them both. Now tor is working. unable to turn it off now but hey, at least it works.

get torbutton instead of foxyproxy. then you can turn it on and off with 1 click.

The last time i read, there was a problem with torbutton leaking info when used with Firefox 3.x
