Printing webpages, spreadsheets into PDF is not WYSIWYG in Ubuntu

I use Ububtu 10.04. 'Print to file' option in Ubuntu does not give me desired results when I try to print to PDF file, especially when printing OO spreadsheets and webpages which are usually wider than A4--I think print to file option prints A4 size.

I have tried changing print options, but it's of no help. Are there any alternatives to print wide pages ? I know it's possible to have wide PDFs.

In OpenOffice you can use the built in pdf exporting tool. I have print wide spreadsheets with it.

Also, and for a more general purpose, you can try installing the package cups-pdf

Code:
sudo aptitude install cups-pdf
that will add a virtual pdf printer for all applications (not only gnome applications). It is reasonably flexible, although to configure some of its features you have to edit text files by hand.
