printing trouble

hi all,

i would like to get some help or just some suggestions, ideas to try to get out of this issue.

From some days i was trying to print some file from kde...

No way.

From the prompt, doing echo 'hello world' > /dev/lp0 it works.

Using CUPS from kdecontrol with a hope right configured HP deskjet 600 printer it comes the problem:
test print seems to start but looking CUPS error log i find:

D [26/Feb/2003:18:04:11 -0100] StartJob(39, 0x80975b0)
D [26/Feb/2003:18:04:11 -0100] StartJob() id = 39, file = 0/1
E [26/Feb/2003:18:04:11 -0100] Unable to convert file 0 to printable format for job 39!
I [26/Feb/2003:18:04:11 -0100] Hint: Do you have ESP Ghostscript installed?
D [26/Feb/2003:18:04:11 -0100] CancelJob: id = 39

Just updated Ghostscript to 7.05, seems to be correctly installed...

Any help is appreciated,

thx B7

CUPS versions < 1.14 used to come with a built-in
Ghostscript (modified to CUPS' needs) ... never versions
are separated (source wise) - however, I seem to
recall that they still ship a custom version of Ghostscript
which you can download from the Cups website.

They might have overcome this "feature", however,
I wouldn't know about it [never change a running system] :}

Cheers,
Tink
