Printing Mode

I have my printing support builtin to the kernel and need to pass paramters to tell it to go into another mode, like ECP, and also different I/O ports. According to the docs, it says to stick these in your lilo.conf file, but when I try that, and run lilo, it bombs out. Can someone tell me where to put these params, and how? Thanks!

Still using LILO with the 2.4 kernel? I find GRUB is better and makes things like this automated.

can't you just set it up in the bios?

No this is a thinkpad - and nevermind, I finally figured it out on my own.
