I can't seem to get my printer to work in Linux. I'm using Red hat 9 and trying to get CUPS to work with it.
Linux knows that it's a Compaq A3000, but it doesn't have specific drivers for it because Compaq sucks and doesn't want me to use Linux. I dumped Windows all together a few weeks ago. I'm VERY happy about it as I don't have any more screaming fits because of Windows, SO I"M NOT GOING BACK!!
I installed it as a postscript printer. The jobs go into the queue, but never get printed out. When I go to
http://localhost:631/admin and check it out, it tells me
Generic PostScript Printer, Foomatic + Postscript
Use redhat-config-printer to edit this!
Location: A3000
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs.
"USB port busy; will retry in 30 seconds..."
Device URI: usb:/dev/usb/lp0
Obviously, it's a usb printer (copier and scanner too actually). And, obviously, I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A LEXMARK.
Any idea how I can get this to work?
