Printing a document

I have a HP LaserJet4. I ran CUPS named my printer "ld" and printed out a test page. When I try to print from a word processor like open office, the only printer I can select from is "Generic Printer" which does not print anything. How do I fix this?

You'll want to check the settings of this "Generic Printer". I believe that OpenOffice defaults to using the "lpr" program for printing. On a CUPS system, changing this to "lp" may solve your problem.
