Question Printer Problem AND internet problem

I have mandrake 8.1 installed on my PC and a HP500 printer.
The printer is installed correctly and when I print a test page it all looks good (it prints better in linux as in windows)
But when I want to print a document in something like KWord, the text is unreadable and some parts are missing.

Anyone who knows what to do?

Second:
I am connect through an external modem
When I connect to the internet I get no errors, he says the connection is up, but when I want to visit a page, he does nothing and after a while I get 'Error resolving Host'
When I first installed Linux the internet was working, but I had to remove it due some problems, now I don't have any internet anymore.
