printer apps
 

I am using Slackware Linux and a Canon i950 printer attached to another Windows machine. I want to be able to print from my Linux box instead of having to use my brother's Windows computer. So I attempted a few programs. I tried to install and use CUPS, but it didn't work for some reason. I also tried Turboprint (Free edition) but am tired of seeing that logo printed as well. (for free edition, the Tp logo is printed onto the page).
Are there any other good/easy to use apps?

try to install cups again just follow the instructions for your printer

Ok, I got CUPS to work. However, when I try to add a printer, I type its Device URI (smb://hostname/Canoni95), I get this error:
client-error-not-possible
Any ideas?
