I would install and use CUPS. It makes installing and maintaining printers really easy.

Take a look at your printer configuration using RedHat's Printer Configuration GUI.
In the Menu -> System Settings -> Printing.
Or open a Terminal window and type: redhat-config-printer

If you have CUPS installed -- which I believe is the default in RH9 ,
take a look at the CUPS error logs located in the /var/log/cups/ directory.

i will check and see... but how do u make cups working....

first download and install it. Then open a webrowser and go to localhost:631 It will ask you for a password, use your root password. Go to administrative tools (I think) and click add printer. Print a test page. Redhat has a print manager default picker thing, change it to cups.

To start, stop and restart services (including CUPS), you can use RedHat's Service configuration GUI.
In the Menu -> System Settings -> Server Settings -> Services
Or open a Terminal window and type: redhat-config-services

You should see CUPS on the list and make sure the checkbox is checked (this means that CUPS will automatically start when the system boots-up).
