Print jobs to printer on another computer immediately go to 'Held' state

I have an ancient Canon BJC-4100 connected to a Fedora 14 box. The printer is shared and CUPS shows its status as 'Idle, Accepting Jobs, Shared'. Printing from this machine to the BJC-4100 works fine.

On my Fedora 19 laptop, I go to 'Settings/Printers' and select to add a printer. Fedora 'sees' the BJC-4100 and installs it. Under CUPS, I am mildly surprised to see it given an smb address (smb://MANGO/Canon-BJC-4100), as I assumed it would be ipp, but that does not matter, as long as it works.

On my machine, I go to 'Settings/Printers', select the BJC-4100 and click 'Print Test Page', then click 'Show Jobs'. The job is shown with status 'Held'. I click on the right-pointing arrow to retry: the job status changes to 'Printing' for a moment, then goes back to 'Held'. On the computer connected to the printer, no new job appears in the jobs list.

I have exhausted all my own ideas as to what is wrong and would be glad of any help.

Later:
I have just looked at the job under CUPS and found this:
Quote:

Canon-BJC-4100-36 Unknown Withheld 1k 2 held since
Thu 07 Nov 2013 13:05:30 EST
"Session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE"
This makes me even more suspicious of the smb address, but my knowledge here is very slight.

I can't remember what the printer configuration looks like in F14 but you should have something like "Server -> Settings" ?
