pppoe internet start at boot

i've download mepis linux, which for any of you wondering is to date the easiest distro. i have ever had to set up (i've tried red hat, mandrake, vector, suse, ubuntu, dsl...) absolutely everything works with absolutely no effort on my behalf EXCEPT my internet. i can set it up, using adsl/pppoe setup and it works until i shut down my machine. setup is apparently supposed to set the connection to start at boot up (as has happened with every other distro. i have used). which file do i have to edit to make my internet start whenever my computer starts? please help. thanks.
