Unhappy Postfix + vm-pop3d ..... help me pleasee!

Hello. I am just a newbie here, so please bear with me. I am having problems on installing our email server. we have 80 workstations now. And I want them to have thier own email address derived from our own domain name.

I am using Mandrake 9.2, i recently istalled postfix and vm-pop3d for my email server, I have telnet my port 110 and port 25 ang it's both ok now.
I can send email now using my existing user. my problem is i can't receive
emails. and they can't reply on my email address. the error is relay access denied.

can somebody help me please.....

I think all you need to do is change your 'home_mailbox' to 'Maildir/' in your postfix main.cf...make sure you use the /

sorry for posting my thread to different topics, I am just desperate for replies.

anyway, I've tried editing my main.cf. but still i got this message relay access denied. I think changing the home_mailbox to maildir/ is for qmail-style delivery of mails. (i've read it from it's commented area of the config file)

I have 'home_mailbox = Mailbox' config because i'm using postfix default mailbox style of delivery. i'm not using qmail. i'm using postfix with vm-pop3d software.

You'll have to enter a value for relayhost =
and is your hostname configured in /etc/hosts?

Hello iceman! I've put necessary values. and I've checked my etc/hosts file.

People can now email the user@hostname email address. It doesn't bounce back anymore when they send one.

But i'm not receiving any from my linux box. what else could go wrong? thanks for all your help. I appreciate it so much.

there are ceveral things I don't see in your main.cf.

I don't see a command_directory = (usually /usr/sbin/)
daemon_directory = (usually /usr/libexec/postfix)
myorigin = $myhostname (although that is mandatory)
alias_database = hash:/etc/postfix/aliases
empty_address_recipient = /dev/null
disable_vrfy_command = yes
allow_percent_hack = no
swap_bangpath = no
append_dot_mydomain = no

Don't forget to configure your aliases too.
To troubleshoot, fire up a terminal and type mail <yourusername>
write something, hit enter write a dot (.) and hit enter again.
If everything's ok, you should now get a mail in your mailbox from yourself.

I've made changes again on my main.cf. Now I can receive emails locally. My problem now is I can't receive email coming from the outside. Like MSN and Yahoo and other pop3 emails.

Again, please let me know what exactly goes wrong. Thank you very much for your help.
