Ok how about installing Spam Assassin with postfix does anybody have any right ups on that? Again I'm running Fedora Core 1. I have postfix running and working I started up spam assassin but it doesn’t seem to be filtering the mail. I take it I need some sort of plug in for between the software?
I have had great success setting up postfix with spam and virus filtering using amavisd (which in turn relies on clamav and SpamAssassin in my case) using this guide. The discussion is originally Gentoo-specific but applies to other distributions as well. Clamav does a great job detecting viruses and I highly recommend it.
Thanks for the feedback. I guess my situation is alittle different because I'm using postfix for my mail server not a relay but maybe this will step me in the right direction I will be a newbie for life!!
