Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I'm tring to setup an email server. All the reading I've done has made it quite clear that postfix is much easier then sendmail. Anyway I think I nailed the whole thing only I can't get out. Port scan shows port is up from outside the firewall. I don't think I have a postfix problem as much as think I have a smtpd problem. I'm not sure anyway. heres my postconf and some syslog outputs.
See what you think..
The error I'm getting in the syslog whenever I reload postfix I get this:
May 5 18:20:17 hostname postfix/nqmgr: warning: connect to transport smtp: Connection refused
I can telnet to the port
and send a message out but it gets stuck in the queue and I get this:
May 5 18:19:14 hostname postfix/nqmgr: 4B068116FB8: to=<firstname.lastname@example.org>, relay=none, delay=1730, status=deferred (transport is unavailable)
I'm lost and my brain is gone anyone got any ideas what did I forget ?
