postfix error procmail: Couldn't create "/var/spool/mail/

when I send a mail to my server I get this: procmail: Couldn't create "/var/spool/mail/user

what does it man and how to I fix it?

Check permissions on the directory, check to make sure that the correct user is running proc mail.

northern virginia? where are you at? I am there too!

Anyhow, I am new to Linux mail servers. where do I check the permissions, is there a conf file for procmail. I just installed prcmail from the default Redhat install.

well...I've gone to Redhat and pulled this:

and still a no go. In fact the howto is informational, but I still get the procmail errors.

I found a tutorial in spainsh, so that doesn't help me.

Has anyone tried Exim? I hear it's extremely easy to configure.

figured it out. I have to change the permissions on /var/spool/mail to 1770. Then create a procmailrc in the /etc directory. Funny thing though is every tutorial in the internet I found never said that. I added procmail and spamassassin. Now everything is kosher.
