Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I run Mandrake 10.0 and Postfix was installed by default. However, Postfix on my machine does not receive incoming emails from other machines. It does send emails correctly, it does receive the email which I send to myself (to the same address on local machine), but when I send email from another machine to my machine, Postfix doesn't receive anything. There's no trace about any error in /var/log/mail/errors or /var/log/mail/warnings or /var/log/mail/info. Does anyone has any idea what it might be wrong?
Thanx in advance.
Well, I found where the problem is, but I still can't find a solution.
My machine has port 25 closed and it runs firewall. I tried to open it via DrakConf (module Security / Firewall and checking the Mail Server button) but nothing has changed, if I try telneting to my machine's port 25 from outside, it says Connection refused.
Any idea how to open port 25? Thanx in advance for any help.

In file /etc/postfix/main.cf I changed the line
inet_interfaces = localhost
inet_interfaces = $myhostname
and it restarted the postfix daemon. My guess is, that inet_interfaces = localhost is the default Mandrake choice because not many people run their computer as Mail Server and at the installation I had the option about Mail Server turned off.
