postfix confugration

first let me start by saying I'm a total newbie, and these config files linux uses baffle the hell out of me. I've learned alot from linuxquestions. here's my newest problem.

I dont know which of the 3 config files i need to play with to get postfix to send through a relay smtp server. if you could post exactly what i need to put where. i would be eternally grateful!!

lets pretend my smtp server that i want to relay to is

mail.mail.com

and my username is

me

and my password is

pass

I don't get it. I just want to know how to configure postfix to use a relay server? i was using windows before and accidentally left port 25 open, so i was a relay server with out even knowing it. which caused me to get my ip blacklisted. now i have to go through a relay server to send my phpnuke mail to subscribers. will someone please help me!!?!

Hey Mossy if your not gonna help get the F**k out of the way. The person is asking for some support here and all you do is give him (or her) a hard time.

surban99 I wish I could be of some help with your question but I have no experience with PostFix. It just get me upset when someone with good intentions asks a question and then gets yelled at by someone who is assuming things. Typical knee jerk reaction to these type of people though.

The only help I can give is to go check out these sites: http://www.postfix.org/docs.html
http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=4241
http://www.akadia.com/services/postfix_mta.html
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/bsd/2003/08/21/postfix.html
http://www.nmlug.org/pipermail/nmlug...ay/004538.html
http://www.postfix.org/uce.html

I hope that this help some.

mossy,

Lets post constructively or don't post at all. And lets not assume they are trying to spam or anything of the such without proof. Many people use and setup email to use a relay server, etc. If you feel they are trying to do something of such nature, either skip and move on without posting such remarks or report the post to a moderator if you feel it will damage LQ.org in some nature.

And wizjr1,

Lets not tell any members to "get the F**k out of the way" please, it can only cause more controversy.

Anyone want to discuss this further, do it by email. Lets move on with the topic.

Regards.

Wizjr - Welcome to LQ. As trickykid already pointed out, the response was a bit hostile.
