postfix and pop3- qpopper
 

Hi,

I've installed postfix and qpopper in my RH8.0. How to get pop3 pull mail from my pop account (pop10.domain.sg) ?

you have three different things here, none of them have much to do with the other


postfix is an smtp server. It's used for users and other allowed people to send mail through your server, and to it's users.

qpopper is a pop3 server. It's used for users on your system to retrieve their email that's stored on your server.

To retrieve mail from another pop3 server that you have an account on you will want to use fetchmail, or something like it.

postfix + fetchmail + pop/imap + openwebmail

Then, how to make the mail server send on demand?

It will send whenever there is mail in the queue.

you can test it by sending yourself a letter. It should arrive right away

dialup connection
 

i use dialup to send out my email. For internal email, no problem. Only external email, i have to dial manually to internet.

idle 300 in /etc/ppp/options
 

I have add this line "idle 300" to /etc/ppp/options, but the ppp0 wouldn't disconnect from internet. please advice.
