Postfix, Active Directory Services and Authentication

I have a new Postfix mail server up and would like it to pull users that get mail off of the Active Directory Services server. Is this possible?

Also, would I have to create mailboxes for each username and password listed in the ADS? Ideally, when a new user is added to the ADS server a mailbox would be created on the postfix server and the username and password the user uses on the domain would also be their email address and password.

Does this sound reasonable?

If ADS does not work, would a PAM/LDAP/SAMBA setup be the best alternative?

Well honestly I dislike ADS but this isn't directly possible. You could use a MySQL database for mappings but I wouldn't really suggest that. The way we (= ISP) solve this is using scripts. A scripts checks at a given interval a MySQL database and creates the mail accounts (Cyrus boxes). Be sure to add extensive error checking routines as this is a very critical script ...

I don't think so. I'd just use scripts as pointed out above ... this is the solution that will work if your script do :-)
