Post install Fedora 15 - cannot mount DVD backup

I just upgraded from Fedora F11 to F15. Before making this transition, I backed up my system using my Mac's DVD burn hardware and tested the disk on my F11 system. Ok.

After F15 install, the DVD backup won't mount. I've tested a generic DVD from a tech book and this will mount. Ok.

For my backup I tried to mount manually with, Command:

# mount -t hfsplus /dev/dvd /media
This results in generic error which instructs me to check

# dmsg | tail
hfs: unable to find HFS+ superblock
What else can I do? hfs-tools is installed. I don't know how to go about troubleshooting this.

Hi there,

When you insert normal DVD you said it works OK. Did you use the same command to mount the normal DVD or it got automounted.

Is this the message that you get when you type the command

Did you try running:

 mount -t hfsplus /dev/cdrom /media
or just

 mount /dev/cdrom /media

Did you try using the command without mentioning the partition type as suggested in my previous post?

Paste the output of ls -l /dev

* I have three partitions. The first is for Windows, the second is /boot and the last is LVG named vg_F15 which is further subdivided into / and /swap partitions.

for a normal everyday dvd it should not be in apples hard drive format HFS

what happens if you do not use the type command

From the output it appears that it got mounted. Are you able to see the contents of the DVD?

@John VV: I am able to make a directory in /media; however, the same error messages repeat. The disk is not mounted.

I understand the philosophy of using native formats and open formats. Truly the data is not lost. Im more concerned that this disk mounted correctly on my F11 install. I am in that phase, after a new install, when I have yet to discover if it was successful.

you might need to install a third party package
hfsplus-tools-332.14-12.fc15

well fedora did change a lot of things in 15
they might have broke it
