Porting, or using EVERQUEST

Has anyone found a way to play Everquest on Linux? Even with WINE or WINEX or anything. IS there a version available FOR linux?

MasterC 07-17-2002 11:20 AM

Anyone?

At eq.castersrealm.com, they just announced that EQ will soon be or already is available for Mac OS X. Since linux seems to have less priority than macintosh in the world for developers, I would say there is no linux version of EQ.

Dunno if it could be jury-rigged to work under linux, but I'm a green newbie anyway, so don't ask me :)

Winex now can run eq. You must use the latest version of winex. The paid for one I think. U must use the new ui not the old one. I am working on getting it installed I got the patcher (the pop one) to pop up and downlaod the files takign a bit though. One question about winex what is the services liek wineservercd or soemthing? I killed it now it won't restart and I cannot install any ,more games using winex.

Thanx if you know it.

In case any one is wonderign it does work I just got mine working nto to long ago. It looks real nice only problem I am having is its still a small window. I need to get that fixed and hopefully find soemway to speed the patcher up as it takes a long time (and I am on a cable modem). Well I guess I get to change my signature.

Hey Gonus, you got the paid version? How much does that run, and how does it go?

Cool

gonus 11-24-2002 11:35 PM

Yah dude I got the Paid version. To get that U must subscribe a mmin of 3 months (15$) and then u can download it. As long as u are subscribed you get the updates. It works good. I have a problem running the updated textures of luclin so I can't recommend those. But with out those I can run it great no lag even in bazaar.Oh yeah when u subscribe you also get support for all the games that they do support they are limited on support for eq but other games liek Diabllo 2 and starcraft and many others are very well supported.

Thanks for info and the feedback, that's not too bad for something like this... So how often to updates come out?

Cool

gonus 11-25-2002 09:54 PM

They update the rpm versions usually about every 2 months but when they get soemthign going (like eq) they post an update monthly to fix common problems. At first the fonts were hardly ledgible but they fixed that with an update. Now it runs great.
