Use Galeon, uncheck "accept popups". As for Spam Filter, supposedly Mozilla's new Spam filter is very high quality, and very highly recommended.

Cool

without using a specific browser, privoxy i believe has the ability to kill popups (and ads). And if you need a browser, there's always Phoenix.

I am using opera 6.11 on my mandrake 9 computer. in fact I have never encountered a browser in linux that you could not turn off pop-ups with the exception of netscape. the netscape people have an upgrade that I just downloaded which allows one to turn them off. I reguard pop-ups as spam. some browsers call them "windows not called for" when netscape 7 first came out I emailed their tech support asking where I turn off pop-ups and they gave me some rot about part of their income was derived from pop-ups. I emailed back and told them i won't live long enough to use a browser I could not turn them off, and aparently others did the same thing.
