POPTOP problems

I am trying to setup poptop VPN on my firewall and I compiled and installed the kernel patch for version 2.4.26 ppp and pptpd latest I always get the error messages

Code:
Sep 12 20:46:58 firewall pppd[19013]: Could not determine local IP address
Sep 12 20:46:58 firewall pptpd[19012]: GRE: read(fd=5,buffer=804d540,len=8196) from PTY failed: status = -1 error = Input/output error
Sep 12 20:46:58 firewall pptpd[19012]: CTRL: PTY read or GRE write failed (pty,gre)=(5,6)
My options.pptpd looks like

Code:
name *
lock
mtu 1450
mru 1450
proxyarp
auth
+chap
+chapms-v2
ipcp-accept-local
ipcp-accept-remote
lcp-echo-failure 3
lcp-echo-interval 5
#deflate 0
mppe-128
mppe-40
mppe-stateless
my Chap passwords looks like
Code:
# Secrets for authentication using CHAP
# client server secret IP addresses
john * password *
my /etc/pptpd.conf looks like
Code:
option /etc/ppp/options.pptpd
localip 192.168.1.2
remoteip 192.168.1.90-100
Has anyone gotten this error before?
Does running the software on my firewall have anything to do with it?

My Oppinion, check also the /etc/ppp/options file, if everything is ok.

remove these from options.pptpd:
lcp-echo-failure 3
lcp-echo-interval 5

and also uncheck "Enable software compression" from "PPP Setting" of Windows XP, VPN Client, "Networking" setting.

I hope this helps.
