Polygon tool in the gimp ?

I need the tool that I see in photoshop that has a "point to point" selection tool. I really don't like the free select tool.

What's wrong with creating a path (point to point) and making a selection out of it?

Oh and there's also the Scissor Select Tool.

For selections only, use the path-tool which has a polygon-option and convert it into a selection.

I don't know either why the freehand selection doesn't have the same shortcut as brushes to drag some straight lines.

I usally "fake" polygon selections with masks.

Oh yeah, I didn't remember the masks. That's a very efficient way to make selections, and in photographs usually the best one.

Just enable the selection mask (or whatever it is called; the button that puts a red overlay over the image, and when you "draw holes" into it and disable it from the same button, the "holes" turn into selections) and do your stuff with the usual drawing tools.
