Free Guide: Linux from Scratch
Linux from Scratch describes the process of creating your own Linux system from scratch from an already installed Linux distribution, using nothing but the source code of software that you need.
This 318 page eBook provides readers with the background and instruction to design and build custom Linux systems. The resulting system will be compiled completely from the source code, and the user will be able to specify where, why, and how programs are installed. This eBook allows readers to fully customize Linux systems to their own needs and allows users more control over their system.

Hello all,
Back in the deep dark days of my Windows use, I discovered PoddoX as a platform to manage my iPod. I had become extremely frustrated with iTunes and sought out an alternative for it. PoddoX was my first experience with open source applications and I LOVED it.
My issue here is, Can this app, based on use for windows, be added to my Linux Mint line up and enjoyed in the Linux environment? If so, how does one do this? Am I to use Wine to launch the program?
Please excuse my "Noob-ness" as I have just made the jump from Windows to Linux Mint. This app along with Skype/Logitech Quick Cam are the only applications that I can not get to run on my machine.
I continue to search and do my research, but I must admit that my chops are not up to par and I am leery of attempting this type of surgery without really knowing just what the hell I am doing...LOL...any help hee would be greatly appreciated.
The way to run Windows programs on Linux is through wine. Don't know if it's installed by default on Mint, but should be available in the repositories if not. As it says on their homepage, "Wine is still under active development. Not every program works yet,..." But many do. Check their database...
