Question PNG in .doc files in Libre/Open Office

I create a file in Libre/Open Office. Put PNG graphic file into it. Save file as .doc (not .odt).
Close it and re-open.
As a result, I see placeholder for my PNG image and only small thumbnail in the corner.
Tried to find solution in Google and did not find anything.

Did anybody experience same problem?
How can I get my PNG images to show correctly in LO/OOo?

Hi, I just tried that with my system, using insert, picture (from file)

Saved a .odt, close and reopen OOo and open the file, it's complete.

I then did a save-as .doc (M$office-2000/xp/97)

and it was also complete after closing and reopening the .doc file.

One thing I have found with both word-processors, copying a pictureDrag and drop to a page is not reliable.

hope this helps, Glenn

Hi Glenn,
I noticed that problem only occurs when I select MS Office Word 6.0 format.
With 97/2000/XP it is OK.

Thanks!

Word 6 is very old. And it was never really fully compatible.

Please mark your thread as SOLVED.
